Designing the 'Fables' cinematic poster in the spirit of Saul Bass meant captivating the imagination and revealing the film's essence without spoiling its plot. Guided by his principle to 'symbolize and summarise', I prioritized visual simplicity and an asymmetrical composition.

The quill symbolizes writing, its ink transforming into a mask whose earrings depict the scales of justice. This powerful iconography, dominated by the blue of wisdom and the black/white contrast, embodies the social satire and moral duality of fables.

The title 'Fables', set in Bauhaus 93, dominates the scene, while 'Gill Sans Nova' for secondary information pays homage to the Bauhaus aesthetic that inspired Bass.

Every graphic choice aims for the essential, telling a visual story with striking simplicity to spark interest and reflection.
